Drawbacks of Being Overweight

The problem of obesity has been a perennial problem worldwide, as the times change and the people’s way of living continues to evolve. Being overweight has become one of the greatest trials that man has faced. The main concern about this disorder is the fact that it exposes you to other serious health problems like high blood pressure, cancer, hypertension, diabetes and many more. Studies show that the number of overweight people increases rapidly every year.

What is the main cause of obesity and being overweight? It is because of the types of food that we eat. The increased production and consumption of artificial/processed foods are the culprits for encouraging unhealthy eating habits. Due to the fast-paced nature of life nowadays (busy working schedules, meetings to attend to, and other activities), you cannot blame others to eat in fast food chains to satisfy their need to eat. However, they do not know that when you regularly take in those kinds of food, it will bring a great deal of unhealthy properties to their bodies that would hurt them eventually. Without taking the proper precautions to avoid the effects of wrong food intake, you are risking your own health.

Moreover, keep in mind that processed/fast foods are stuffed with saturated fat and calories that is stocked in your body. When these things are not removed from your body, it will lead to being overweight.

Being overweight also hinder us from being productive, thus affecting our overall well-being. When you are overweight, it reduces your capability to carry out basic routines and activities. You are easily exhausted even when you are just doing simple chores. Moreover, obesity also makes you sluggish and lazy, rendering you inefficient.

Apart from that, looking overweight also has its disadvantages. When applying for a job, an overweight person has lesser chances of being hired because of the notion that when you are overweight, it is seen as less productive. It also affects the physical and personal aspects of an individual. When a woman gains a lot of weight, it affects her figure, looks, and attractiveness. It will cause some problems regarding her marriage, sexuality, and get her emotionally stressed.

In conclusion, this gives you the idea that being overweight is not a simple health problem and it should not be ignored. Take care of yourself, start now, and see the big difference that it will bring to your life.
