The Beauty of Black Models

Black beauty is currently making its own way in the fashion industry and the like. There are beautiful black faces with oozing curves that have became the cover of prominent publications around the globe. One of the innovations that the world has noticed is how Black women have reigned as the country’s beauty queens, such as Miss America Debbye Turner and Miss USA Carole Gist.

Black models look sensual and create a different aura while in the catwalk. Black beauty in the 90’s indicates a new definition of beauty. The society has broadened their understanding regarding black beauty. The classic white-skin, blue-eyed, blonde-hair beauty standard has innovated into most dark-skinned people’s saying: Black is beautiful. The color of your skin is one of the best assets you can be boastful of, thus having dark, or brown-black skin can be considered as your pride. Adding to the Black beauty pride is Kimora whose parents are Korean and Black, she was chosen by Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld to be a star in his show. The 14-year-old model was considered as the girl that represents 90’s.

The Top Three Black Fashion Models

Naomi Campbell is considered as the top black fashion model. She is the premier black supermodel of all time and she have ruled the runway when modeling craze is at its peak. She was part of “The Trinity” that includes Naomi, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington, these three have ruled the fashion industry. Naomi is the highest supermodel of all time.

The second top black fashion model is Iman Abdulmajid. Iman first hit the modeling scene in 1975 and she was the first African-born beauty that has paved away all other Black beauties that aimed to break into the world of fashion modeling. She was the first to become a cover of German Vogue and a muse to Yves Saint Laurent.

Beverly Johnson ranked top three of the most sought after black fashion models. She had become cover of 500 magazines. She had been a cover of the American Vogue in 1974 that made her known in modeling history.

The Supermodel: Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks has made a long journey of her career from being a model up to being the creator and host of the America’s next Top Model show. She started as a high fashion model and then done some commercial modeling. She is an American model, media personality, actrees, businesswoman and an occasional singer. Tyra is a co-creator of True Beauty, and the host of her own talk show, The Tyra Bank Show.

Tyra have achieved her break in the industry when she appeared in commercials and advertisements. As of today, she was termed as Mini Oprah because of her ability to do hosting well. However, she failed in her singing career but she had proved that there is nothing wrong to be a go-getter because of the accomplishments she have as of now.
